Sound familiar?

A room that is too bright by day and too exposed by night

The afternoon sun washes out the television and fades the furniture, then once it is dark the same window turns into a window everyone outside can see through.

Shades solve both, but only if the fabric is right. How much light a shade lets through is a property of the fabric, not something that can be adjusted later.

That is exactly why Brentwood Blind Company does it differently.

What to know about shades

Brentwood Blind Company is a local blinds & shades team serving Brentwood. Here is what shades do, and the fabric decision that drives all of it.

How much light a shade lets through is decided by the fabric, so the fabric is the first choice.

Common questions

What is the difference between blackout and room-darkening shades?

Room-darkening fabric blocks most light but some still passes through the weave and around the edges. Blackout fabric is opaque, and paired with a side channel or an outside mount it takes a room to full dark. Bedrooms and nurseries are the usual reason to go blackout.

Which shades help with heat and cold?

Cellular, or honeycomb, shades hold a pocket of air between the room and the glass. That air layer is what slows heat moving through the window, which is why they are chosen for rooms that are hard to keep comfortable.

Can shades be used with curtains?

Yes. Shades sit close and flat to the glass, so curtains can hang over them. That combination lets the shade handle daytime light and the curtains close for privacy and softness at night.

How are shades measured?

Shades are measured to the opening, and whether the shade sits inside the recess or over the frame changes both the measurement and how much light escapes at the edges. That is decided per window.
